Andy Cohen Hopes Dorinda Medley Will Return To Real Housewives of New York

Will Dorinda Medley rejoin Real Housewives of New York?

Nobody can argue Season 12 of Real Housewives of New York was a poor one for Dorinda Medley. We love Dorinda, but her violent outbursts have made us sad this season. What’s wrong with the friendly Dorinda and her spunky one-liners?

Her primary target this season was housewives co-star Tinsley Mortimer. Dorinda called out Tinsley for not being honest about her life and her relationship with Chicago entrepreneur Scott Kluth.

At Sonja Morgan‘s bingo party, Dorinda went nuts when Leah McSweeney talked about Tinsley. Dorinda began yelling that Tinsley had almost destroyed the show.

Tinsley left RHONY halfway through the season to be with Scott in Chicago. And then, Scott eventually got down on his knee in November 2019.

In August, Dorinda revealed she was leaving Real Housewives of New York. It came as a bit of a shock since Season 12 is still running.

Taking to Instagram, Dorinda wrote:

What a journey this has been. I have laughed and cried and tried to Make it Nice…But all things must come to an end. This was a great outlet for me to heal when my late husband Richard passed away.

Medley added,

I have met so many interesting people and learned so much about myself, about life, and about women along the way. I wish you all health, happiness, and success. Clip!

There are reports Dorinda was simply fired from the show because she failed to take accountability for her acts and was pretty hard to deal with. This is a strong probability, based on Dorinda’s rage problems this season.

When Tinsley mentioned her good news about moving to Chicago, Dorinda’s reaction was straight-up mean. “I’ve got a turkey baster — maybe try and have a baby,” Dorinda said.

Page Six confirmed at the beginning of September, Dorinda’s remark on the turkey baster enraged Real Housewives producer Andy Cohen and was a catalyst for her dismissal. Back in February 2019, Andy welcomed his son, Benjamin Allen Cohen, through surrogacy.

As per Page Six, Andy discussed the exit of Dorinda on SiriusXM’s Radio Andy. Andy called Dorinda “iconic” and agreed that this season wasn’t a good one for her.

When it comes to the turkey baster reference, Andy admitted he “didn’t like the comment,” but claimed it had little impact on Dorinda’s departure from RHONY.

Andy explained,

She said something at the reunion that struck us all, which was that she should’ve taken the year off this year. She was in a bad place.

The Bravo host reckoned,

Her house had been flooded, her dad was sick. We lost Bethenny [Frankel] right as filming began and we lost Tinsley halfway through the season, so maybe Dorinda didn’t feel like she could take the year off.

Andy wishes Dorinda will be “renewed and refreshed” and hopefully return to RHONY someday.

I am really hopeful that this is indeed a pause, and that she will rejoin the show at some point.

“I have said that to her a couple of times, and by the way, I do not say that too often,” Andy stated.
