Gareth Pierce discusses a possible wedding for Todd and Billy on ITV’s Coronation Street.
Gareth Pierce, who plays Todd Grimshaw on Coronation Street, has spoken out about the future of his character and on-again, off-again boyfriend Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank), hinting that nuptials ceremony may be on the way.
Brocklebank earlier indicated that a proposal for Billy was in the works, but refused to reveal who would pop the question – Todd or former partner Paul Foreman (Peter Ash), but it now appears that it may be Weatherfield’s native bad boy.

Pierce expressed his desire for a happy ending to Inside Soap, stating:
That [a wedding] would be brilliant! I mean, I have no idea whether that will definitely happen for Todd and Billy, but I think a same-sex wedding would be a wonderful landmark for the show – and I’d love to be part of it.
Pierce’s hopes could be dashed, given that showrunner, Iain MacLeod has already stated that Todd’s latest scheme to reclaim Billy from Paul will come back to bite him in the future.
During an interview earlier this month, MacLeod explained:
He will ultimately and temporarily look like he’s got everything he wants. Unfortunately, the lengths that Todd has gone to in order to get what he wants will be the very thing that will be his undoing in the end.
He continued,
Todd gets his happy ending but it’s already got a massive fracture in it. In a very explosive, dramatic – again quite thriller-ish – way later in the year, Todd’s machinations will all come to light and he’ll end up losing everything again.
Pierce also mentioned another reunion he’d want to see, admitting he’d like Ryan Thomas to come back as brother Jason and that he’s eager to widen the Grimshaw family.
Pierce added,
I was asked about this when I first joined, and while I don’t know Ryan at all, I think it would be great for Todd and Jason to be reunited. But I do sometimes feel as though there’s a brotherly dynamic to Sean and Todd’s relationship. To be honest, I’d love anything that widens the family.
