Wherever Batman heads, you can bet the Joker will not be too far away, and with three live-action iterations of the Dark Knight scheduled to inhabit our screens in 2022, there is a sense of anticipation the Harlequin of Hate might influence things in a fairly substantial way.

After being funneled to the outskirts after Suicide Squad, Jared Leto is making an unexpected return in Zack Snyder‘s Justice League, and there is a genuine possibility his controversial approach to the character could feature in more ventures if fans provide better feedback this time around.

In the meantime, Matt ReevesThe Batman may reside in a separate region of the DCEU, but every Batman series so far has included The Joker in some shape or form, and with the director believed to be preparing at least a trilogy, it feels inevitable the Caped Crusader’s adversary will appear in one of the sequels.

This is without even acknowledging the continuous rumors that Warner Bros. is prepared to throw a bucketload of cash in Joaquin Phoenix‘s way in an effort to retain him as Arthur Fleck.

But it appears the Joker frenzy isn’t going to end there as the latest reports from trusted sources suggest HBO Max is already developing a story based on the Jester of Genocide.

Although further specifics are foggy and it’s not certain which iteration of the Joker will feature in the show – it could potentially be a whole different one – HBO Max is going all-in on DC material recently, so it shouldn’t come as a shock that one of their most popular figures is now scheduled for a small screen experience.
