The Winter Soldier is one of the fan-favorite characters in the MCU right now, but what does the future hold for Sebastian Stan in the fourth phase?
Sebastian Stan might get his own solo MCU film or TV series one day, but after spending 10 years in the franchise, he’s now solidly rooted as one of its most successful and beloved supporting actors.
Stan’s character The Winter Soldier is a name that has been a part of two different Marvel Cinematic Universe titles with 2014’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier and the latest The Falcon and the Winter Soldier (2021), both of which are pretty much about the shield and Cap’s legacy in general.

Are things likely to change anytime soon? Probably not. But having finished his ultimate redemption phase, Bucky Barnes is in a much better position than we’ve ever witnessed, and his next MCU outings will mark the beginning of his brand new storyline.
In the meantime, Avengers: Endgame (2019) saw Stan complete the seven-picture deal he agreed with Marvel Studios for the 2011 film Captain America: The First Avenger, so he will need to commit to new terms before returning to the silver screen in the future.
Well, the latest reports suggest the 38-year-old star – who is tipped for the role of a young Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars franchise – is set to play second fiddle behind Anthony Mackie‘s Captain America in the fourth solo blockbuster.
This would mark the next logical building block for the squabbling duo following the culmination of the immensely successful The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
Even as a second billing, Stan will be more of a co-star in the film, and although his precise role in the upcoming plot is unknown, you can bet he’ll have a sturdy arc as he proceeds to assist his pal Sam Wilson on his adventures as the MCU‘s new star-glittered protagonist.
