After 15 seasons, beloved The CW show Supernatural came to a close in 2020. While we can all fight over the finale, the monster hunting show was one of the most beloved programs on TV for over 15 years. Now, after about a year Jensen Ackles and his wife Danneel Ackles are bringing a prequel show called The Winchesters and Jared Padalecki is "bummed" about not being involved.
Supernatural was a TV show about demons, monsters, angels and gods, and among them, Winchesters trying to save the world, killing one monster at a time. Raised to be hunters by their father, brothers Sam and Dean Winchester walk in their father's footstep to help innocent people from the scourge of unnatural beings on the surface of he earth.
Through the seasons we were introduced to angels, gods, and multiple earths, all existing in real life. Sam and Dean take on the task to protect the earth as well as themselves from all kinds of threats. But their time came to an end with the 15th season. But the end for the brothers does no mean there will be no more Supernatural. Jensen Ackles has a script commitment from The CW, but there is no Jared Padalecki.
Jared Padalecki Congratulates Jensen Ackles for The Winchesters, But Expresses His Disappointment
Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki played brothers for over 15 years and through out that time they have formed a strong bond. Outside of the show they have a strong bond, living in Texas they used to visit each other houses and have fun together. Even after the show ended Jensen and Jared parted on good terms, and that is why when The Winchesters was announced, Jared was a little disappointed.
The Winchesters is a Supernatural prequel series that follows John and Mary Winchester. In the original series Jeffrey Dean Morgan played John in the first season then had recurring appearances in the show. While Mary was killed off in the first episode while the two Winchester sons were still little kids, Sam was still a baby.
In subsequent seasons we got to know more about Mary and John Winchester and how they became hunters. We also got to meet Mary and according to Jensen, there is more story to be told about the two parents. Their life story is important cannon that needs to be told and Jensen, along with his wife Danneel have taken on the task as the first production work of their production company, Chaos Machine.
While announcing the show, Jensen Ackles told Deadline, "After Supernatural wrapped its 15th season, we knew it wasn’t over. Because like we say in the show, ‘nothing ever really ends, does it?' When Danneel and I formed Chaos Machine Productions, we knew the first story we wanted to tell was the story of John and Mary Winchester, or rather the Supernatural origin story. I always felt like my character, Dean, would have wanted to know more about his parents’ relationship and how it came to be. So I love the thought of having him take us on this journey."
The announcement was made one day ago and it seems no one gave Jared Padalecki a heads up as the actor expressed excitement and disappointment via Twitter. He wrote, "Dude. Happy for you. Wish I heard about this some way other than Twitter. I’m excited to watch, but bummed that Sam Winchester had no involvement whatsoever."
Fans are a little divided on the matter, Jared already has a show, Walker, on The CW and recently it got a season 2 order. So, with Jensen coming back to the channel, they are both back in their old hunting grounds. There are some fans who thing Jared is just having fun with Jensen but it appears Dean Winchester is going off on his own this time.
