Japanese Manga artist Yukito Kishiro‘s original remake Battle Angle is directed by Robert Rodriguez. It’s an American cyberpunk action movie based on Kishiro’s 1990s series Battle Angel Alita. For those who are yet to watch the movie, well, the story follows a futuristic plot after a post-apocalyptic occurred on Earth that turned up the planet to be a different place; cyborgs started ruling over people controlled by evil authority heads.

And there comes a savior, a special cyborg Alita, starred by Rosa Salazar who’s given a new life and body after Dr. Dyson Ido (Christoph Waltz) finds her discarded in a scrapyard of Iron City. The story follows a deactivated cyborg revived who can’t remember anything of her past and goes on a quest to find out who she is. And as she is activated again, Alita steadily uncovers her memories and the secrets of the world she lives in.

The adaptation of the popular Japanese manga series hype was so crazy from the fans that fans even came up with a petition demanding for the next chapter of the show on Change.Org. Besides, Alita Armies even came up with a campaign for Alita: Battle Angel 2 with a series of billboards going up in Los Angeles and booking a plane with fly banner flies writing #ALITASEQUEL on the 2020 Oscars red carpet. It sure articulated the ‘love’ and ‘want’ of the next sequel to happen.

The main thing here is the re-releasing of the Si-Fi movie on theaters highly hints the production house desiring to make chapter two of the movie. The only thing that made the movie stop its production is due to an unsatisfactory box office collection of only $405 million from the budget of $170 million.
Well, the movie made under the budget of $170 million didn’t quite impress 20th Century Fox’s team with its success rate comparing all the production time and effort it took. However, Fox is now part of Walt Disney and it’s Disney who will be deciding for the next sequel.

Various media outlets have asked the ‘movie stars’ regarding the next sequel and in an interview with Digital Spy, Dr. Dyson aka Christoph Waltz shared,
Maybe it doesn’t fit into the Disneyfication, but I have no clue. I have no clue. Maybe they’re working on something and I wouldn’t be the first person to hear, but meanwhile, I haven’t heard anything.
Similarly, lead star Rosa Salazar shared that she hadn’t heard anything regarding the next sequel despite the fact that Cameron and Robert had planned for another one. Rodriguez even shared the outlet that “There’s like one whole document about the trilogy.” And analyzing all the reactions we think it’s not the question will it release but when will it be released. So yeah there sure will be the next sequel but the time of the production is not fixed yet.
