Jill Duggar sheds light on the reason she quit TLC’s Counting On.
The Duggar family carried quite an aura on TLC back in 2008, primarily thanks to 19 Kids and Counting, followed by the spin-off show Counting On, but every Duggar kid was never gonna stick around.
Jill Duggar Dillard and her husband Derick Dillard left the show and began pursuing their own ambitions, and while the motivations were never completely discussed on Counting On, Jill eventually expressed her blunt feelings as to why she had left while she strives to separate herself from her family to this day.
Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard were influential on 19 Kids and Counting and followed their reality TV strides on Counting On throughout the early seasons on TLC, but both quit the program and the platform back in 2017.
Jill made some controversial decisions that had obviously not occurred to any of the Duggars who were sticking around. Speaking with People, Jill explained the reason the duo wanted to leave:
We just wanted more control of our own lives. There was a certain job that we had been working towards for, even before we were married, that was taken away from us.
While Jill did not provide details of the “certain job” they were doing, Derick is in his final year of law school right now. Derick said they invested time & expense working on prospects during the first few years of their conjugal life, only to be informed they were not able to follow through.

Several changes have taken place in the period since Jill Duggar Dillard and Derick Dillard departed from TLC. Jill was seen sporting jeans rather than the typical women’s skirts and dresses in the Duggar household, but it was obvious her choice wasn’t “reactionary.” Now she opts to drink wine, and she’s even styling swimwear, albeit a modest one.
Jill Duggar Dillard proceeded to reveal how the Duggar family and the TLC responded to reports the couple was contemplating to leave reality TV behind:
It didn’t go over very well with anyone. By that point, we’d had enough. We knew we had to pull out completely to reevaluate and get our bearings.
Such remarks were shockingly straightforward coming from Jill Duggar Dillard, but they’ve got nothing on what Derick Dillard said about the Duggar Leader, Jim Bob.
In a string of comments on Instagram, Derick said he and Jill were “humiliated and threatened” when they decided to stop filming for TLC. And as to why they were able to escape was the fact that some of the other Duggars had gotten married.
Having said this, Derick Dillard did provide hope to fans as well, who are eager to see him and Jill Duggar Dillard return to Counting On, stating “maybe” they’d be coming back someday.

Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, from their side, noted the differing opinions and perceptions, in their stance, but their hope is their relationship gets repaired and completely rebuilt soon.
