Ever wondered who would win in a fight between a T-Rex and 1970 Dodge Charge R/T, well, it appears the folks at Universal are wondering the same thing. There have been widespread talks in recent days about a crossover between Jurassic World and the Fast & Furious franchise. After the initial idea was floated by Michelle Rodriguez and Justin Lin, it appears Chris Pratt is on board with whatever the said merging of these two properties entail.

Jurassic World is the continuation of the once highest grossing film of all time, Jurassic Park, released nearly three decades ago. Dinosaurs are brought back from extinction with the help of science and things do not go as planned. The initial film gave us two sequels and after 22 years, in 2015, Universal decided to bring John Hammond’s dreams to life in Jurassic World.

Based in the same island, Isla Nublar, off the Coast of Costa Rica, dinosaurs are now a common thing for humans as a theme part is set in the island. For years the park attracted millions of visitors but when a genetically modified dinosaur is let loose in the park, people lose their lives and Owen Grady with his “trained” Velociraptors are tasked to bringing down the dangerous carnivore.

Jurassic World was a massive success for Universal with the film making over $1.6 billion at the box office, 10 times the production budget of $150 million. The success led to a sequel in 2018, Fallen Kingdom which was a critical let down and also saw a slight decrease in box office gross. No matter though, as Universal is gearing for the release of a third movie and now a crossover talk is picking up some steam.

On the other hand, Fast & Furious started out as a street car racing and a action movie back in 2001. Through luck or sheer will, the franchise has turned into a somewhat of a superhero series and the ninth installment is sending things into space. The ninth movie in the main Fast & Furious series is already a massive hit with over $250 million gross internationally. And with the franchise coming to an end soon, a crossover would be interesting, probably why people of Fast universe are floating the idea.

Chris Pratt is for Jurassic World and Fast & Furious Crossover If Fans Want It

Yes, it does does sound stupid that Fast & Furious being mentioned in the same sentence as dinosaurs. But we saw The Rock divert a missile with his bare hands, Jason Statham and Vin Diesel using their cars as a lances, and to make matters worse Ludacris and Tyrese Gibson are reportedly being sent to space in Fast 9. There is no telling where the series goes from there, you see dinosaurs seem plausible in comparison.

It was Fast & Furious actress Michelle Rodriguez who floated the idea with Justin Lin supporting her. Reality has left the building so why not dinosaurs? And for those wondering is it even possible, well it is possible, if you can put pineapple on a pizza, anything is really possible at this point. Since both properties are owned by Universal, it would be possible to do a crossover.

While it would be a weird marriage, unlike what Sony floated for their Men In Black and 21 Jump Street franchises. Or even Ethan Hunt and James Bond (they are owned by different companies) they could seamlessly fit into each other’s world, but Jurassic World and Fast & Furious crossover would be a pretty bad arranged marriage.

But none of that is stopping Chris Pratt from putting his support behind the idea. The actor had previously mentioned he would love to play his Jurassic World character Owen Grady till he is old. “I’m telling you, I’m going to play Owen until he’s long in the tooth and got some dentures and throwing his walker at a T-Rex,” he actor said.

So, a crossover idea is not bad indeed according to Star Lord actor. “I hadn’t heard that. Yeah! Let’s do it. That sounds good. Because, you know, because if there’s one thing a T-Rex can’t F with, it’s family. Family and fast cars. I’d love to work with them. I’d love to work with Vin [Diesel], that’d be good,” Chris Pratt explained about the possible crossover.

Chris Pratt and Vin Diesel have appeared together in a movie. Well, Vin did “voice” Groot in the Guardians of the Galaxy movies, and their names appear together in the cast list. Still, family and dinosaur is never a good combination, so, let’s keep this crossover talk to wishful thinking.
