Kevin Feige Says Doctor Strange Almost Made It to WandaVision

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige says Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange was scheduled to make a cameo in the Disney+ limited series WandaVision.

Despite the fact that The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is the latest Marvel Studios series to hit the streaming platform, fans are still floating some WandaVision queries.

When the Disney+ show premiered this year, it turned the MCU on its head, and the Scarlet Witch’s introduction was hailed as a triumph.

Still, some viewers are curious about where Doctor Strange was during the proceedings of the show, and Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige recently revealed that the Sorcerer Supreme was supposed to appear in WandaVision.

As Rolling Stone published its new issue this month, the entire thing surfaced. Columnist Brian Hiatt spoke with the Marvel boss for an in-depth report on the development of WandaVision. Strange’s original involvement in the show was revealed there, along with the reason it never made it in the end.

Marvel Studios had discussions with Benedict Cumberbatch to reenact his part as the Master of Mystic Arts for WandaVision. The parties reached an agreement, and Feige revealed that Strange is directly linked to the cryptic advertisements that appear in the series.

Doctor Strange was going to send Wanda these advertisements, which made subtle references to Hydra and more, in an attempt to crack the illusion she had cast.

However, the sorcerer was eventually dropped from WandaVision. Up until his debut, the team thought that adding the hero would overshadow the story’s emphasis on Wanda.

Feige said,

Some people might say, ‘Oh, it would’ve been so cool to see Doctor Strange. But It would have taken away from Wanda. We didn’t want the end of the show to be commoditized to go to the next movie – here’s the white guy, ‘Let me show you how power works.’

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022), according to Feige, had to withstand a brief overhaul as a result of the update.

Doctor Strange needs to find a way of catching up on Wanda’s adventure in WandaVision since she will play the Scarlet Witch in the sequel. When Wanda and Strange do clash in March 2022, viewers will be able to witness the confrontation in theaters.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is set to premiere on 25th March 2022.
