Supernatural Boss Apologizes to Jared Padalecki for the Jensen Ackles Spin-off Controversy

Supernatural creator Eric Kripke drops an apology to Jared Padalecki for the drama surrounding Jensen Ackles’ spin-off show The Winchesters.

Supernatural boss Eric Kripke has tackled the recent controversy concerning Jensen Ackles‘ spin-off show by saying he has apologized to Jared Padalecki.

Jensen revealed last week that he was working on a prequel series called The Winchesters. The prequel would center on Sam and Dean’s parents John and Mary Winchester and be narrated from Dean’s point of view, with Jensen reprising his role as narrator.

Jensen’s co-star Jared Padalecki was taken aback by the news, and he stated that he was “bummed” and “gutted” to have no participation in the venture.

Eric addressed the issue by explaining that he had mistakenly assumed Jared was aware of the spin-off. He had previously tweeted that he “liked” the show’s premise and referred to Jensen, his wife Danneel Ackles, and Supernatural producer Robbie Thompson as the perfect group of people to develop it.

He wrote in a now-deleted tweet,

Guys. When I wrote this, I assumed Jared knew. I was wrong. I already apologized to him & @jarpad & @JensenAckles worked it out. I love them both like brothers, both equally contributed to #SPN.

The creator added,

Since his initial tweets, Jared has stated that he and Jensen had a wonderful chat.

Everything is fine, he added. The show is still in its early stages, and there are still miles to go. They’ve traveled a lot of roads together, and sometimes those awful roads have bumps, but they don’t stop them.

Jensen said,

Love you @jarpad… Miss these talks. I forgot how much face time we always used to get. And I miss that too. I know you’re busy… as am I, but you’re still my brother.

At this point, The CW has made a script obligation to the spin-off.
