Supernatural on The CW is coming to an end after 15 seasons and the two leading stars are heading off to other adventures. Jensen Ackels is set to appear in the third season of The Boys and Jared Padalecki is starring as Cordell Walker in Walker, where his wife is also among the cast.
Walker is the reboot of the hit 90s TV show, Walker, Texas Ranger, starring Chuck Norris as Texas Ranger Cordell Walker. The series was a law enforcement programming that also focused on community and martial arts and it was a moderate hit for ABC throughout its run.
After the announcement came that Supernatural season 15 would be the final one in the series, Walker was announced as the next vehicle for Jared. He was hired to play the titular character and The CW named the show Walker. With the show coming soon, from cast to release date, here is everything you need to know about Walker.
Walker The CW Cast – Jared Padalecki and His Wife Coming Together Again

For 15 years Jared Padalecki had been busy, appearing in Supernatural as Sam Winchester. Following the announcement of Supernatural‘s final season, Jared was hired as the leading man of Walker, a reboot of Walker, Texas Ranger.
With the casting of Jared and The CW being happy with the developmental script for the show, Walker was picked up by the channel. While Jared was announced as Cordell Walker, the backroom staff and other cast members still needed to be added.
By the end of 2019 and early 2020, the casting process was mostly done with the show adding Lindsey Morgan in 2020 to play Jared’s Ranger’s partner Micki. Keegan Allen will appear as Liam, Cordell‘s brother, Mitch Pileggi as Bonham Walker, his father, and Molly Hagan as Aabeline Walker, his mother.
Rounding out the Walker family are Violent Brinson and Kale Culley as Stella and Arlo Walker. They are the 16 and 14-year-old daughter and son of Cordell. And for those wondering who Jared’s real-life wife will play in Walker, well, she will play his reel-wife also.
Genevieve Padalecki and Jared met during their time on Supernatural. They were a couple in the show and got married soon after. Genevieve will play Emily in Walker. She is the late wife of Cordell and she is supposed to appear in a limited capacity in Walker.
Walker The CW Release Date – When is the Show Premiering?
The shoe started development in September of 2019. The CW picked it up as part of its development lineup a month later and by January of 2020, the channel was confident in the success of Walker which resulted in a series pickup instead of a pilot process.
After a full season pickup, the casting process continued and writers were added to set up a deep writer’s room. The show was still hiring new actors up until March of 2020 and then production was halted due to the COVID pandemic.

Recently Alex Landi of Grey’s Anatomy fame was added to the cast of the show and filming has begun on the show. When it comes to the release date for the show, the set premiere date from The CW is on 21 January 2021.
Barring any production halts, expect The CW to stick with the date. We are not certain how the show will look in the end considering the world has changed so much. We’ve seen SWAT deal with this issue and Walker will have some hurdles to jump over to fill out a full slate of episodes.

Walker follows the life of Cordell Walker, a Texas Ranger who is holding up a long tradition of Rangers and also trying to raise his family. Though much of the plot is not made public, it seems Cordell’s relationship with his late wife will play a central role.
After his wife is gone, Cordell tries to drown his pain at work while also trying to be a good father to his two kids. The Walker clan will come into play as well but it is not clear the extent of their involvement in the series.
As for the trailer for The CW show, there is none at the moment. Recently The CW released a promotional video announcing the release date for the series. No cast or characters were seen in the teaser but we are expecting a trailer any day now.
