Elizabeth Olsen Had One Day Off Between Filming WandaVision and Doctor Strange 2

The summer of 2019 feels so far away now, but it was then Kevin Feige announced the future of MCU moving into Phase 4. While a few shows and movies needed to be shuffled around due to the pandemic, the story links however are intact. We were told WandaVision and Doctor Strange 2 would have a connection but even Elizabeth Olsen was kept in the dark about the whole development process resulting in a one-day respite between the two Marvel productions.

When the future was all laid out plainly for MCU moving forward, WandaVision were placed in close proximity with Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Kevin even said the show will bleed into the movie and we would be getting see it all back-to-back. Well, Doctor Strange 2 is still far away with Marvel Hype-video revealing the release date for the film.

Everything contributed to Elizabeth Olsen not even knowing what was happening with all the productions. She was already confirmed to be appearing in the sophomore Strange movie but as the actress explained, even she did not know the behind the scene progress of the project. The Scarlet Witch actress detailed the experience during an interview and explained how close the filming was between the two MCU projects.

Secretive Marvel Did Not Disclose Doctor Strange 2 Plans to WandaVision Star Elizabeth Olsen

Marvel is known to be secretive with their movies, from fake scripts to clips in trailers that never appear in the movies, there are may ways the studio disguises its intent. There is a need for secrecy also, characters go through some huge ordeals in superhero movies and spoiling a pivotal point can ruin the whole film for a fan. Also, Marvel has previously dealt with leaks from the stars of the movies while on press tour.

Mark Ruffalo ruined parts of Infinity War while Tom Holland gets fake scripts just so he has no clue what is happening in the movie. The Spider-Man actor has been the biggest leaker under the MCU umbrella with the studio even pairing the actor with other stars so they can cut him off in time. So, it is understandable, all the secrecy help preserve the integrity of the movie while keeping the experience pure for the fans.

Elizabeth Olsen became a victim of Marvel’s code of silence because she had no idea when the filming was going to begin. Schedule is one thing, but the actress was not even told what her character would be doing in the second Doctor Strange movie. She explained that it was before she went into a 8 week shoot for WandaVision during the pandemic that she was told about the movie.

During an interview with THR’s Awards Chatter podcast, the actress revealed how little time she had to prepare. “I really wish that there was a plan that someone shared with me a little sooner [laughs]. I found out about Doctor Strange 2 and what the story was before we went for the last 8 weeks of filming WandaVision during the pandemic. I found out in, like, August, and then I wrapped WandaVision on a Wednesday and went to England [on] Friday,” she explained.

The Wanda Maximoff actress made it clear that she had one day of respite between the two Marvel productions. She finished filming WandaVision and a day later she was on a plane to London, possibly to Pinewood Studio. Now that she has finished her duties, the actress has a little bit of clear idea of where the movie is headed. Elizabeth Olsen explained the feel of the show is definitely “horror.”

The title of Doctor Strange 2 definitely gives a horror vibe as the sorcerer supreme dives into the Multiverse of Madness.
