Ruby Rose has been around action movies and TV shows for a few years now. She has the love of the fans and skills recognized by casting directors. But no matter who she goes up against in a movie, the actress says Keanu Reeves will always be her toughest opponent.
Hailing from Australia, Ruby Rose’s call to fame was her appearance in the hit Netflix drama series Orange Is the New Black. From there she slowly positioned herself as a no-nonsense badass with physical skills to dole out or take a kick. Soon, action roles flooded in and now Ruby’s tatted-up image and her fighting skills are well known to fans all over the world.
In that short span of time, she has appeared in blockbuster movies such as The Meg, XXX, John Wick: Chapter 2, and Pitch Perfect 3. She was also cast as Kate Kane in The CW’s Batwoman. Almost all of those roles are centered around action but no matter who she went up against (even a Megladon) Keanu made the biggest impact.

John Wick was a surprise hit at the box office after a few doozies for Keanu Reeves. The film was thought to be just another Keanu vehicle until fans discovered it in theatre and DVD. John Wick soon became a franchise and for the sequel, Ruby Rose was hired to play the right-hand woman of the main villain.
In John Wick: Chapter 2 the recently re-retired John is taking care of his new dog and getting his old car fixed when an old “friend” arrives at his doorstep. Santino D’Antonio wants to get rid of his sister and he has a marker that causes John to take the contract and then go after Santino for making him kill a friend.
But Santino is not without help as he is surrounded by guards and one deaf assassin, Ares. Ruby Rose plays Ares and for the majority of the movies, she is chasing after John but by the end of the movie, we get a much-needed confrontation between the two characters.
In the hall of mirrors, John is hunting for Santino when Ares arrives and they start fighting. Knives and hands combine for a sleek looking well-choreographed fight and at the end of it John leaves a dying Ares behind as she signs her last breath, “See you around.”

That fight and experience on John Wick were unique for Ruby Rose. She went so far as to say the toughest opponent for her in a movie was Keanu Reeves, even beating out her SAS: Red Notice co-star, Sam Heughan. The actress said comparing the two, Keanu beat out Sam by a little for the number one spot.
“I think Keanu Reeves will always be the number one. Not only is it Keanu, who I just adore, it’s John Wick – a film franchise I think is just fantastic. We had so much fun doing it and that was a very iconic moment for me,” the actress explained as if she was looking to come back for Chapter 4 or 5.
The fate of Ares is up in the air, well, we did not see Ares take her last breath so she might still be alive. Ares was bleeding from her mouth and the knife wound definitely looked serious but John survived a 4 story head-first dive so Ares surviving would not be that shocking.
Also, John Wick Chapter 4 & 5 is already in the works with the two filming back to back. So, bringing back Ares in any of those two movies would not be that bad. Ruby Rose definitely had fun working in the film and Keanu Reeves is a charmer with everyone, so maybe Ruby is fishing for another go at the character with the quotes while promoting her new movie.
