It was more than a four decades ago when George Miller introduced us to the post-apocalyptic world of Mad Max. Touted as one of the most profitable movies of all time, Mad Max helped further push Australian cinema into international discussion. And 40 years later, Miller is still not done telling the story of a world gone awry. Anya Taylor-Joy starrer Furiosa is a Fury Road prequel and the iconic Australian filmmaker says it is a saga.
Mad Max is an Australian movie released in 1979 and featured Mel Gibson as a police officer living in the wild world of post-apocalyptic Australia. With gangs on modified vehicles ruling the highways and oil becoming the most valuable commodity, Max tries to keep the peace while trying to protect his family. But a world gone crazy is not a place where you can raise a family.
After initial success of the first movie and critical approval of part 2, Thunder Done, the third installment was the last in the franchise. Till George Miller revived the franchise with Mad Max: Fury Road with Tom Hardy playing a broken-down Max. Fury Road also introduced us to the character of Furiosa, played by Charlize Theron. There was a lot unsaid about the one-handed road warrior, so Miller is giving us a prequel with Anya Taylor-Joy taking over from Charlize.
