Black Panther Starts Filming in July 2021 - Shuri Likely to Have Much Bigger Role!

Will Shuri have a more prominent role in the Black Panther sequel?

Marvel Studios is heading forward with the sequel of much-adored Black Panther (2018), even though the studio has yet to determine what they’re gonna do with the role of T’Challa after the tragic demise of actor Chadwick Boseman in August 2020.

As stated by The Hollywood Reporter, Black Panther 2 starts shooting in Atlanta in July 2021, with the filming likely to last up to six months, with Ryan Coogler sitting on the director’s chair.

THR claims,

Letitia Wright, Lupita Nyong’o, Winston Duke, and Angela Bassett are expected to return for the new feature, with some saying Wright’s character may take on a more prominent role.

After Boseman passed away, a vocal faction of internet fans pushed for Wright’s character Shuri, T’Challa’s brilliant sister, to undertake the role of Black Panther like the way she did in the Marvel comics.

THR also notes Mexican actor Tenoch Huerta, best known for the crime drama series Narcos: Mexico (2018-20) and the adventure thriller film Sin Nombre (2009) is cast as one of the sequel’s undisclosed villains.

Previously, Marvel Studios’ EVP Victoria Alonso confirmed they won’t be using ‘digital double’ for Boseman’s Black Panther in the sequel.
