Ryan Reynolds is Reportedly Looking for New "Deadpool" Character

Ryan Reynolds is reportedly seeking a new role that could become as iconic as Deadpool.

Ryan Reynolds is undoubtedly one of Hollywood’s most popular and successful names right now, but his stardom as a mega superstar didn’t really begin until the biggest role of his career arrived in the form of Deadpool in 2016.

This is funny given that the superhero’s solo debut had been frozen in production hell for over a decade until it burst onto the stage to collect nearly $785 million worldwide.

Perhaps more surprisingly, X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009) was the biggest live-action project of Reynolds’ entire professional career up to that moment, which also marked the very first occasion he had portrayed Wade Wilson.

As a matter of fact, after Logan’s prequel, Blade: Trinity (2004), Green Lantern (2011), and R.I.P.D. (2013), the actor was at severe risk of being known as the guy who just starred in dreadful comic book adaptations. But then came up Deadpool and changed the entire landscape.

Now, Reynolds is a global sensation, and Hollywood insider Daniel Richtman on his Patreon claims The Proposal star is vigorously exploring another character that could potentially become iconic years down the line, close to the extensive success currently embodied by his foul-mouthed depiction of the self-conscious assassin.

Of course, it’s worth noting that Deadpoolofficially part of the MCU now – was not a pop culture icon among casual fans until the movie started blowing up, and taking the mantle of a famous character isn’t as easy as announcing that you’re going to do it.

Besides obvious comic-book superheroes, unless you’ve got truly legendary characters from the pop culture like Sherlock Holmes or James Bond, nothing can actually provide enough assurance over an iconic status from the start, and aiming for that from the get-go can always lead to actors trying too hard.

However, with lots of movies in different stages of production, maybe one of Ryan Reynolds‘ forthcoming performances could hit right on the money and secure some kind of elevated and everlasting standing in the eyes of fans all over the world.
