'Enola Holmes' on Netflix - 'Stranger Things' Star Millie Bobby Brown Plays Sherlock's Younger Sister

Stranger Things sensation Millie Bobby Brown is Sherlock’s sister in the Netflix movie Enola Holmes.

Millie Bobby Brown features as Sherlock’s sibling in the first Netflix trailer of Enola Holmes. Brown soared to fame for the first time upon portraying Eleven in Stranger Things, a role that earned her a couple of Emmy nominations.

The actress’ first significant movie appearance came last year with Godzilla: King of the Monsters, and she’ll be reprising her role in the follow-up, Godzilla vs. Kong.

Needless to add, she shall obviously return to continue as Eleven in Stranger Things season 4, which is currently postponed owing to the COVID-19 pandemic. For those eagerly waiting for the next season of the cherished supernatural show, Netflix is ready to deliver Brown’s newest project.

Enola Holmes is centered on American author Nancy Springer‘s young adult novel and explores the 14-year-old sister of the renowned detective Sherlock Holmes (Henry Cavill).

In this chapter of the story, Enola gets up one day to find that her mother (Helena Bonham Carter) is gone. Her older siblings Sherlock and Mycroft (Sam Claflin), are eager to send her to boarding school, but Enola takes the matter into her own hands and travels to London to figure out what had happened to her mom.

Netflix recently revealed the first piece of Enola Holmes content, including a fun little mystery surrounding the release date. The video, though short, offers viewers a snapshot of Enola Holmes’ several supporting characters, including Sherlock himself.

This concludes with the first real glance at Brown as Enola, who switches to the camera with a hurried greeting.

Upon solving the clever little puzzle inserted in the tweet, it’s unveiled Enola Holmes will drop on Netflix on 23rd September. It looks like a more extended clip will emerge in the coming weeks, but for now, this is an enjoyable intro to the story.

The trailer contains a similar vibe to last year’s mystery/comedy film Knives Out, and if Enola Holmes can replicate such quality, it’ll undoubtedly be a success. As it is, Enola Holmes seems like it’s going to be an excellent platform for Brown’s talent. Enola already looks quite different from the silent and intense Eleven, so it should be lots of fun.

Back in June, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle‘s estate sued Netflix over the forthcoming film Enola Holmes, alleging that the film’s depiction of a public domain protagonist, Sherlock Holmes, with feelings and empathy for women, breaches Doyle’s copyright.

We must wait a bit to see how the case ends up turning, but Netflix is clearly poised to move ahead with the promotion of Enola Holmes.

The streaming giants enjoyed remarkable success with some of the original films this year, most notably Extraction and The Old Guard. Therefore, if things go as per their vision, Enola Holmes could easily be the next major hit.
