Black Adam Starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson Begins Filming

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson-led DC Extended Universe feature Black Adam has finally begun filming.

The filming of the DCEU movie Black Adam has begun. Dwayne Johnson, who plays the titular character, Black Adam, revealed the start of production in an Instagram post that included a picture of a clapboard with the villain’s logo on it.

Johnson wrote,

History in the making, extremely excited and what a humbling moment to share with you. Officially kicking off day one of filming our Black Adam.

The Hobbs & Shaw star added,

Our Director and maestro, Jaume Collet-Serra. Our Academy Award nominee (Joker), Director of Photography, Lawrence Sher. We have an all-star production crew — incredibly talented, galvanized, committed, and focused to raise the bar and deliver something special for the world. This one is an honor.

Black Adam, a spinoff film of the 2019 DC Extended Universe feature Shazam!, depicts Johnson’s iconic DC anti-hero – an unruly champion of the ancient Egyptian wizard Shazam who was given powers before Billy Batson.

Atom Smasher, Hawkman, Cyclone, and Doctor Fate will all appear in the forthcoming movie as representatives of the Justice Society of America.

The movie was supposed to be released in December. However, it missed its original release date because development was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In March, the movie’s ads took over New York City’s Time Square, announcing a new release date as 29th July 2022.

It’s fair to say the movie is eagerly anticipated because of all the hype created by The Rock himself.
