Elliot Page and Emma Portner are divorcing after three years of marital life.
The Umbrella Academy actor Elliot Page made a public announcement that he and his wife, Emma Portner, had divorced following a marriage that lasted three years.
The duo released a joint statement that reads:
After much thought and careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to divorce following our separation last summer. We have the utmost respect for each other and remain close friends.
Oscar-nominee Page and dancer Portner exchanged vows in early 2018.
Page, who featured in movies like Juno (2007), Inception (2010), and the X-Men franchise, revealed in December that he’s transgender and prefers the pronouns he/they.
Taking to Instagram, the actor wrote:
I feel lucky to be writing this. To be here. To have arrived at this place in my life. I feel overwhelming gratitude for the incredible people who have supported me along this journey.
He added that it feels incredible to finally accept who he is, enough to embrace his true self, thanking so many in the trans community for their bravery and kindness.
Page said,
I love that I am trans. And I love that I am queer. And the more I hold myself close and fully embrace who I am, the more I dream, the more my heart grows and the more I thrive.
Elliot then vowed that he would do whatever it takes to change society for the better.
In Netflix‘s sci-fi drama adapted from graphic novels, The Umbrella Academy, Page stars as the insanely powerful Vanya Hargreeves/Number Seven, a brilliant violinist whose abilities have been thwarted for years.
The filming for The Umbrella Academy season 3 is expected to begin next month.
