Hilary Duff was forced to stay in isolation during her pregnancy after revealing that she had been subjected to COVID-19. She isolated herself in their basement to avoid Koma and the children, but she discovered that they would leave stuff like applied pie outside her door all the time.

The Gossip Girl actress was also expected to reenact her role as Lizzie McGuire in the Disney+ reboot show, but the potential series was canceled after a couple of episodes had already been shot due to creative differences.

Because of these disagreements, Disney let series creator Terri Minsky leave, and Duff eventually abandoned the project.

Hilary Duff would announce the program’s fate on social media, and although she was troubled by its cancelation, she also desired the series to be true to the character, and this one simply wasn’t.

Duff wrote,

I’ve been so honored to have the character of Lizzie in my life. She has made such a lasting impact on many, including myself. To see the fans’ loyalty and love for her, to this day, means so much to me. I know the efforts and conversations have been everywhere trying to make a reboot work but, sadly & despite everyone’s best efforts, it isn’t going to happen.

The actress added,

I want any reboot of Lizzie to be honest and authentic to who Lizzie would be today. It’s what the character deserves. We can all take a moment to mourn the amazing woman she would have been and the adventures we would have taken with her. I’m very sad, but I promise everyone tried the best and the stars just didn’t align. Hey now, this is what the 2020s made of.

Massive congratulations to Duff and Koma on their new bundle of joy, and who knows, perhaps that revival will happen one day. At least we can hope.
