Naya Rivera’s mother reveals her final meeting with her daughter and sadly recounts discovering she was gone.
It’s been over a year since the tragic demise of Naya Rivera, who departed while kayaking with her four-year-old son Josey on Lake Piru.
Naya’s death was reported on 13th July 2020 after her corpse was discovered in the Lake during a search. Speaking in a new interview published today, Naya’s mother and sister recall their close family member.

Naya‘s mom, Yolanda Previtire, told ABC:
It was a beautiful morning. I missed two of her FaceTime calls. I called her back and I said, ‘Naya, where are you?’ And she’s like, ‘Me and [my 5-year-old son], Josey, we’re gonna go to the lake and I was gonna have him fish.’ I told her, ‘The lake’s getting choppy,’ and I said, ‘I love you. Call me when you get off the water.’
She added they had a lovely talk. The sun was caressing her cheeks, and she was stunning. She was wearing a white, exquisite bathing suit and was beaming, noting that she was taking FaceTime calls during their conversation.
Thank God I took the pictures because they were able to look at the topography of the land to locate where they were.
Yolanda expressed her sorrow after discovering that Josey had been found but Naya had gone missing.

She said,
It was almost like a force. I don’t know what it was, but I literally was just pushed backwards. I just ran backwards, if you can imagine, just screaming and I ended up in the bathroom. I slammed the door, I was on the floor and I had to gather myself.
Our hearts go out to Naya’s friends, relatives, and dear ones as they keep grieving.
