The Bridgerton family is expanding with the addition of Sex Education actress Simone Ashley. She will be playing Kate Sharma in Bridgerton season 2, a spin on Kate Sheffield, a love interest for second season’s hottest bachelor in town, Anthony Bridgerton.
Bridgerton was a big hit for Netflix. It was reported the show was viewed in over 80 million households within 4 weeks. A production from Shonda Rhimes, the 8-episode drama told the story of a different kind of Regency London. The mix of different races made the show a unique viewing and the series is not letting go of its uniqueness any time soon.
The Regency-period romance followed Daphne Bridgerton in the first season as she falls in love with Duke of Hastings. Their steamy romance made Bridgerton a must watch and Netflix probably hopes the infusion of Simone Ashley as Kate Sharma as a romantic interest for Anthony Bridgerton will inspire the same level of excitement for Bridgerton season 2
Simone Ashley Plays Kate Sharma in Netflix’s Bridgerton Season 2
Simone Ashley will play Kate Sharma, revamped role of Kate Sheffield, in Bridgerton season 2. She is known for her role in the Netflix series Sex Education.

Kate Sharma is of Indian origin and she is a recent arrival in the social scene of London. A headstrong woman who does care for the idea of a woman appearing delicate, Kate gives no inch to Anthony Bridgerton. She is a smart girl with her own idea of who she is and can become.
Simone Ashley was cast as Kate Sharma and Netflix made the announcement through their Twitter account on 16 February 2021. Bridgerton season 2 will be based on the second book, The Viscount Who Loved Me, of the Julia Quinn authored series.
The second book focuses on the romantic adventure of Anthony Bridgerton as he is focused on finding a Viscountess for the Bridgerton family. Being the eldest son of the family he has the responsibility of carrying the Bridgerton name and getting married is the first step in his responsibility.

After Anthony’s sister made a mark in the previous year’s gathering, it appears another Bridgerton will overshadow the hordes in the new season. Anthony, being a Lord, is a big catch in London for Mamas and their daughters so the eldest Bridgerton has his work cut out for him.
But one person who does not care for all the attention around Anthony Bridgerton is Kate Sharma. Kate does not suffer any fools and Anthony has shown himself to be a fool many times in the first season of Bridgerton. So, obviously, the combination of the two will make for an interesting romance.
Before Bridgerton season 2 was even announced we knew Anthony was going on a hunt for a bride. At the end of the first season, Anthony told the Duke and the Duchess that he had plans of “finding and promptly declaring my intentions to my new viscountess.

After the second season was announced creator and showrunner Chris Van Dusen said, “We have a bunch of new characters we are going to be introducing. Anthony is going to have a love interest next season, and I think it’s going to be as sweeping and moving and as beautiful as viewers of the first season have come to expect from the show.”
And inspiring intrigue among fans, Chris further went on to tease Kate‘s possible reaction to Anthony. He said, regarding Anthony, in an interview, “We left him at the end of the first season at a bit of a crossroads, so I’m looking forward to jumping in and discovering how he fares on the marriage market.”
Simon Ashley is familiar with Netflix, she rose to fame with her performance in Sex Education. Beyond that, Simone has also appeared in other hit productions over the years. But the way Bridgerton season 1 was received, her character Kate Sharma is destined to become a massive hit in Bridgerton season 2. The fans are already excited for the future and so are we.
