Mayim Bialik admits she never watched The Big Bang Theory prior to joining the cast.
The Big Bang Theory‘s Mayim Bialik recently revealed she had “never seen” the show until she was cast. The actress became a part of the CBS series back in season 3 in 2010 as Sheldon Cooper‘s (Jim Parsons) unlikely romantic interest, Amy Farrah Fowler.
Last week at the Graham Norton Show where she featured alongside Daniel Kaluuya, Adrian Lester, and Sienna Miller, Mayim shed light on how she entered the US show without realizing “what it was” about during her audition.
As it turned out, the rest is history!
Mayim said,
I left the industry for 12 years and I got a doctorate in neuroscience.
She added,
I wanted to experience life where you’re valued for what’s in between your ears and not just for what you can provide for other people. I was literally running out of health insurance and thought that if I could get a few small parts it would help.

Bialik then revealed,
I’d never seen The Big Bang Theory and didn’t know what it was. I was cast and my life changed.
