‘Aquaman 2’ Producer Shuts Down Social Media Pressure to Fire Amber Heard

Aquaman 2 producer Peter Safran responds to fan pressure to kick out Amber Heard from the DCEU film. Much to fans’ fury, he completely shuts them down.

One of the producers of the forthcoming film Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom (2022) has responded to fans’ outcry to oust Johnny Depp‘s former wife Amber Heard from the picture.

The actress, 35, played Mera in the 2018 blockbuster film and will reprise the role in the next sequel. During Johnny and Amber’s legal troubles, his followers demanded that she be excluded from the Warner Bros. feature.

In the midst of the uproar, Johnny stepped aside from the Warner Bros. film Fantastic Beasts 3.

Now, Aquaman 2 producer Peter Safran is sharing his perspective on the whole issue.

Safran told Deadline,

I don’t think we’re ever going to react to, honestly, pure fan pressure. You gotta do what’s best for the movie. We felt that if it’s James Wan, and Jason Momoa, it should be Amber Heard. That’s really what it was.

He added,

One is not unaware of what is going on in the Twitter-verse, but that doesn’t mean you have to react to it or take it as gospel or accede to their wishes. You have to do what’s right for the film, and that’s really where we landed on it.

The campaign to fire Heard gained pace after Warner Bros. announced Mads Mikkelsen would replace Johnny Depp as the wicked Grindelwald in Fantastic Beasts 3.

Depp revealed in an Instagram post on 6th November that he was leaving the Fantastic Beasts franchise at the demand of Warner Bros., following the conclusion of his libel action against The Sun.

The judge ruled with the tabloid, which described Depp as a “wife-beater” in an article on his relationship with Heard.

As per the demand to remove Heard from Aquaman 2, she is a known and documented domestic abuser, and the production should seek her removal if Depp received the same treatment concerning Fantastic Beasts.
