She is Bob Holden’s only child with his first wife, Phyllis Holden. In Battle Creek, Michigan, her late mother Phyllis Holden worked as an occupational therapist at a veterans’ hospital.
The professor’s parents first met in 1948 and married three months later. Robin was born on October 15, 1954, in New York City. On January 11, 1972, Dole’s parents and Phyllis and Bob parent’s divorced. Holden, the professor’s mother, passed away on April 22, 2008. Following a battle with lung cancer, the former presidential candidate and Republican Senate leader died peacefully in his sleep. He is survived by his second wife, Elizabeth, and daughter, Robin Dole. Even though the couple had no children together, she is the stepmother of Bob’s 24-year-old daughter Robin from his first marriage.
