Ed Sheeran and his wife Cherry Seaborn have welcomed their baby daughter.
Ed Sheeran made a lovely announcement on Tuesday morning, not long after the rumors circulated the couple was expecting a child. The singer shared a cute photo on Instagram with a blanket and a pair of booties and let his fans and followers know both the baby and mother are doing fine.
The Shape of You hitmaker captioned the post,
Ello! A quick message from me as I have some personal news that I wanted to share with you… Last week, with the help of an amazing delivery team, Cherry gave birth to our beautiful and healthy daughter – Lyra Antarctica Seaborn Sheeran. We are completely in love with her. Both mum and baby are doing amazing and we are on cloud nine over here. We hope that you can respect our privacy at this time. Lots of love and I’ll see you when it’s time to come back, Ed x
Earlier this month, rumors emerged the couple was expecting a newborn, while Ed and Cherry were able to keep the new developments low-key thanks to the coronavirus lockdown.
A source told The Sun at the time,
Ed and Cherry are over the moon. They’re very excited, but have kept things very low key,
They added,
Lockdown was a perfect excuse not to be seen out and about too much, but things are getting closer and the excitement has been building so they have started telling friends and family.
The source continued,
They’re just making the last of the preparations at home, and the baby is expected later this summer. It’s a really happy time and their families are all totally delighted for them and cannot wait to meet the new arrival.
The Perfect singer exchanged vows with his childhood love in 2018 after the pair got back together in 2014 and began dating.

Ed has ensured his relationship with his wife is largely out of the public spotlight, even though he is one of the best singers in the world, often dedicating emotional ballads to his better half.
Last year, following his time on tours, Ed announced his music and social media would take a back seat for the time being.
Taking to Instagram, the 29-year-old shared:
Hello all. Gonna go on another break again. The Divide era and tour changed my life in so many ways, but now it’s all over it’s time to go out and see some more of the world.
I’ve been a bit non-stop since 2017 so I’m just gonna take a breather to travel, write and read. I’ll be off all social media until it’s time to come back.
To my family and friends, see ya when I see ya, and to my fans, thank you for always being amazing. I promise to be back with some new music when the time is right, and I’ve lived a little more to actually have something to write about.
