From her attire to the dance and illumination, Jennifer Lopez‘s American Music Awards performance this week seemed like something we had seen before.
The star presented a romantic duet with Maluma on Sunday night at the award ceremony and social media quickly began to draw out parallels to Beyonce‘s 2014 Grammy’s appearance with her partner, rapper Jay-Z.
Lopez wore a black bodysuit with “Pa’ Ti” and “Lonely” slits just like Beyonce when she performed “Drunk In Love” at the Grammy Awards. Both ladies also rocked short, wet hairstyles, and got sensual with dances that included color lighting.
Bey previously performed the routine during her concert tour, too.
Twitter soon flooded with mixed opinions from those suggesting Lopez had copied Beyonce to some implying it might have been a bit of a tribute to Queen Bey.

Some of the fans who were eager to defend Lopez’s performance responded by pointing out Beyonce herself has been called out several times in the past for creating art that looked identical to the work of others; for instance, last year with some of the music videos for her album “The Lion King: The Gift.”
