Lorde is choosing not to be active on social media. Remarkably, she’s only got 3 Instagram posts on her official account with over 7 million followers. Now, she’s revealing the reason.
Lorde is signing off for a specific purpose. The 24-year-old Solar Power hitmaker discussed her decision to forgo social media with Zane Lowe on Apple Music.
During the discussion about her new track Stoned at the Nail Salon, she mentioned her aversion to posting on social media.

She confessed,
I realized I was trying to come up with a funny Instagram caption and do a photo of me that looked cool that I would hope would get a certain amount of likes.
Lorde added,
It sounds obvious, but that’s cooked. For me, I’m not a girl that gets a bunch of likes. I’m who I am, and I’ve got to lean into that.
The singer continued,
I think for the last one I was 21 and still like the kids, and then the culture started to change and I didn’t know that I wanted to change with it.
She wasn’t sure if she wanted to be a TikTok girl or an Instagram Stories lady, and she was at a genuine crossroads. She had to ask herself whether she wanted to keep being the kids. Or does she want to go through that and become somewhat of an older statesman at the age of 24.

Lorde finally feels like she is the latter, something that she adores, but it took a while. She thought to herself, ‘Oh no, I’m the kids?’
