Assassin’s Creed Netflix – Plot, Release Date and Details You Need to Know

Assassin’s Creed is one of the most beloved and successful video game franchises in the world. Hollywood tried to capitalize on the following of the property; while making a small profit, the film did not earn a lot of new fans. But Assassin’s Creed Netflix, in cooperation with Ubisoft, is hoping to change that.

The streaming giant is trying their hand in adapting this behemoth of a franchise. With video game based movies and shows not having a great critical or commercial track record, it will be interesting to see how Netflix spins this content for the live-action audiences.

Netflix has staked a little in the success of video game adaptation. Castlevania was a massive hit, The Witcher was primarily adapted from the books, but it is still a game and now joining the band is Assassin’s Creed Netflix series. So, here is everything you need to know about the show.

The collaboration between Ubisoft and Netflix was only announced recently and the press release said they were looking for a showrunner to handle the show. It means the production team does not have a writing staff currently working on drafts for Assassin’s Creed show.

Well, that does not mean we are in the dark about the direction Netflix is taking its adaptation. From the announcement teaser, the music sounded a lot like “Ezio’s Family” which probably means the show will take place during the Italian Renaissance.

Ezio Auditore da Firenze made his first appearance in Assassin’s Creed II. That probably answers the question of “which game Netflix will adapt for Assassin’s Creed live-action show?” We are pretty certain, Ezio trilogy will be the focus of the Netflix series.

If true, it would be a great decision by Netflix, considering the trilogy is a definite fan favorite. All the settings in Assassin’s Creed are fun and interesting but a perfect jumping-off point for the Netflix series can be the Ezio trilogy.

But there is also a chance the series takes a new route, something akin to what the Universal movie did. The Michael Fasbender movie was supposed to be based on a game but the writers went their own way and created a new story based on the Spanish inquisition.

Well, we hope that is not the case as the Assassin’s Creed movie did not work too well and fans were also not receptive. The Ezio trilogy can be almost a full proof working plan for Netflix to plot out a course for future adaptation.

Assassin’s Creed Netflix Release Date – Possible Release Dates for the Show

The announcement for the new Netflix show was made on 27 October 2020. The creative team behind the show is looking for a showrunner to take charge of Assassin’s Creed for Netflix which means the cast of the show and the back staff will also take some time to fill up.

Netflix has already released a teaser which means they are looking to fast track the show in production. The most likely scenario is Netflix starts filming in January 2021 which means we might see the release date of Assassin’s Creed fall somewhere around December 2021.

We are guessing The Witcher release time frame for Assassin’s Creed. The show is taking a similar path in production and The Witcher will probably be released before December. So, yes a December 2021 release date for Assassin’s Creed is what we are seeing for now.
