The D'Amelio Sisters to Host the Virtual Premiere of David Henrie's Movie, 'This Is the Year', with Selena Gomez

Selena Gomez released a trailer video announcing the release of David Henrie’s new movie, ‘This Is the Year’, and the D’Amelio sisters, Charli & Dixie D’Amelio, are the ones hosting it.

Selena Gomez‘s “big brother”, David Henrie is out with his directorial debut, This Is the Year, and despite theaters being closed in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, they have decided to not hold back their premiere date at all.

“With all the craziness going on in the world, a feel-good movie is just what we need,” Gomez started the YouTube announcement video of the first live virtual film premiere of This Is the Year on August 28, in a more-often-than-you-think reunion with her Wizards of Waverly Place on-screen brother.

“Most premieres are only for a very small select group of people, but not this one,” the recently turned 28-year-old singer continued the surprise announcement. “We want all of you to watch it with us.”

Henrie announced that the premiere will be moderated and hosted by Charli D’Amelio and Dixie D’Amelio. In addition to the premiere, they will also host the live Q&A session with Gomez and Henrie as the rest of the cast will join in on their own Q&A. The band that features in the movie, lovelytheband, will also be giving a live performance after the show.

One more thing they gave away was how a portion of every ticket sold will be aiding the Plus1 COVID-19 Relief Fund.

This Is the Year is David Henrie’s directorial debut which was announced back in mid-2018. Henrie was on a little bit of a break from acting since his appearance in 2016’s Warrior Road before this as well.

It’s a coming-of-age drama starring Vanessa Marano, Gregg Sulkin, Bug Hall, Alyssa Jirrels and David Henrie himself. His brother, Lorenzo James Henrie, also features in the movie.

Discussions like these often come up when the likes of the D’Amelios, Addison Rae and co get associated with the people in the Hollywood industry. But despite these people already entering into the frame of what defines a celebrity, many are yet to even welcome them into the industry. It’ll take more than just time to convince them.

Regardless, the pair assured it’ll be the feel-good movie of the year, with an attempt to attract her fans who have grown up with Gomez as their idol. Whatever the impact the D’Amelios make on the event, the movie in itself might prove to be something to look forward to.
