RuPaul’s Drag Race favorite BenDeLaCreme encourages queer fans not to let anyone limit them in a Christmas letter of support.
In a chat with Digital Spy to advertise The Jinkx & DeLa Holiday Special, the reality star was questioned what advice she would give to someone who can’t help stress during the festive season.

I think that the advice I have to give is… it’s the message that I really try to pour into all of the holiday content, and definitely this film.
It’s the message that we are all indoctrinated with these ideas about what we think we need to live up to, and what we think our lives need to look like and feel like.
The drag queen added,
All the images of family and homecoming… it can affect people in a lot of different ways. But if that doesn’t resonate with you, you’re not alone in that. That’s a fairly common experience.
And it’s not just the queer experience in this one specifically. It truly is a thing where I think everyone is, in some way, traumatized by this holiday, even if they love it.
It’s hard to spend time with your family. And if you don’t celebrate Christmas, it’s even harder. You’re being inundated with this imagery that doesn’t reflect who you are or your life experience. So I think we’re all affected in different ways.
BenDeLaCreme went on to point out this is a common reality for queer people over the years, though “tonnes” of them have discovered solutions to regain it, to make it what they want it to be, and you can do it as well.

Often it’s a process, and occasionally you have to go through certain manifestations to figure out what’s best for you, and that’s fine too. There is no obligation to find it now, to feel good right now.
BenDeLaCreme concluded you’ll eventually get there. So, you need to keep figuring out what you desire and stick to it. “Don’t let other people limit you.”
