Most people believe Die Hard (1988) is the single best action film in history, but if you had hardcore action fans mention their the Top 10, almost everyone would definitely include Speed (1994).

Jan de Bont‘s incredible masterpiece is as amazing now as it was back when it dropped on theaters for the first time in the mid-90s.

The classic continues to serve as a masterclass in taking a straightforward pitch and twisting every last ounce of suspense from the plot, knotting the actual story with a series of dazzling action scenes for added fun, all kept together by three stellar performances from Keanu Reeves, Sandra Bullock, and Dennis Hopper.

However, Reeves was wise enough to decline his participation in the sequel, which was brutalized by reviewers and failed monumentally.

And at this point, the most possible outcome to see the franchise back on the big screen would be with a reboot, but insider Daniel Richtman argues Disney is apparently contemplating brushing off Speed and staging the third movie through the newly purchased 20th Century Studios, and the original chief star is obviously set to return as Jack Traven.

The internet’s beloved star is no novice to the sequel, of course having just portrayed Theodore ‘Ted’ Logan for the third time on Bill & Ted Face the Music (2020), while The Matrix 4 (2021) and John Wick: Chapter 4 (2022) are next.

Despite reprising numerous roles in his professional career, Reeves, 56, has never displayed much enthusiasm in reliving Speed, but it’s no secret his fans will love to see him again and as maintained by Richtman, the actor won’t say no to the idea.
