Filming for 'The Boys' Season 3 Begins This Week

The Boys season 3 is finally starting production this week.

We’ve been aware for a while that the plan is to initiate shooting for The Boys season 3 in the early months of 2021.

Owing to the current coronavirus pandemic, the series has been compelled to postpone production and to delay even further when the cast arrives in Toronto and is subject to compulsory two-week quarantine. On the bright side, however, filming is finally about to start.

Showrunner Eric Kripke talked about a panel on Twitter where he’ll be speaking this weekend, announcing that development on the show will start early next week. Given the constant sharing of images from the set, we can no doubt tell it must be really close now.

Previously, Kripke told Consequence of Sound:

The thing that has worried me about Season 3 is that it has become really fun and breezy to write again.

The show creator added,

That worries me. It’s feeling enjoyable. I should be in intense, deep introspection for this. I know, obviously, that every season of a television show gets a little bit harder because all of your original best instincts to explore have been explored.

He continued,

So, you have to start going to some of the areas that it wouldn’t at first have occurred you to go to in those stories, and those are always a little trickier to make feel as big and as fascinating as the stuff you hit early on. So, it’s challenging.

One thing that viewers can anticipate in season 3 is the introduction of the Herogasm plot, a storyline in the comic book that served as a spoof of big comic book conventions in which the supes ran off to have a holiday and took part in unthinkable orgies.

Expected to feature is the new addition to the cast, Jensen Ackles, who is set to portray the role of Soldier Boy in the forthcoming season.

Both seasons of The Boys is streaming on Amazon Prime. Meanwhile, the release date for the third season is a bit further away from the official announcement.
