Jensen Ackles, who plays Soldier Boy on the hit Amazon Prime show The Boys, has revealed an interesting aspect about his character’s uniform, notably a surprising link to Supernatural’s Dean Winchester.

The 43-year-old spoke to ET about his new character Soldier Boy ahead of the highly-anticipated The Boys season 3, disclosing he was bracing for his “sixth superhero costume fitting” within the next two days.

Offering a little trivia about his Soldier Boy‘s uniform, Jensen teased:

I don’t even know if I’m supposed to share this, but I’m not giving anything away.

He added,

Through no planning or work of my own devices, I somehow managed to end up with the same kind of boots for Soldier Boy that I wore as Dean Winchester. Different color, but same boots.

The actor explained how the character’s surprise call-back to Dean Winchester came about, saying that the series’ wardrobe department had sent him “a lot” of shoes to pick from.

He said,

I just immediately looked at them and I kind of chuckled [and said], ‘Well, I can tell you which ones I know work.’

The actor, who has undergone insane hair transformation, added that the pair he chose – Dean’s pair – was also the staff’s first choice.

Jensen Ackles‘ appearance in the forthcoming season of The Boys was revealed last year, with the actor playing Soldier Boy, the supposed “original superhero” who served in the second world war and turned into the first super celebrity.
