Army of the Dead director Zack Snyder teases the possibility of a sequel for the upcoming Netflix film.
Zack Snyder is returning to a zombie apocalypse world (or at least one particular city) with Netflix’s Army of the Dead (2021), but would the filmmaker like to move ahead on this specific zombie heist story?
During a live Q&A session, Snyder was inquired about the likelihood of uncovering a different place in his changed world with the same heist team.
Although the movie’s director and co-writer remained reluctant to confirm anything, he did share his enthusiasm about wanting to further explore his new world.

When asked if he’d love to explore his universe with a sequel, Snyder said:
Well, absolutely. But can I, I don’t think I’m allowed to say that. I don’t think that’s, like, a thing. They like, you know, that’s like, but suffice it to say that, yes, I am very excited. If it were possible, or if anyone was interested in it to continue the adventures of this world will be fun. So no, man, zombie oyster. These oysters can become zombies.
For the time being, Army of the Dead will explore a colorful band of soldiers of fortune as they strive to break into Las Vegas and steal the riches of a vault full of cash. The only issue is the entire town has been designated as a quarantine zone for the undead.
Shedding light on the film’s concept, the director said:
The basic premise is that the zombie outbreak started in Vegas. And the way that the outbreak was contained was a wall of shipping containers was built around it, and that they kept the plague inside, that was how they contained it with this big wall.
Although Snyder provides absolute confirmation that zombies are only lurking in Las Vegas, the movie’s ending could definitely create a future in which new outbreaks occur, prompting the team to travel to a new destination for another potential heist.

Even in the scenario where Snyder doesn’t pursue this particular abstraction further, Netflix will be extending the Army of the Dead universe with a prequel movie and anime shows.
The official synopsis for this much-hyped film reads:
Following a zombie outbreak in Las Vegas, a group of mercenaries takes the ultimate gamble, venturing into the quarantine zone to pull off the greatest heist ever attempted.
Army of the Dead is slated to release on Netflix on 21st May 2021.
