Khalilah Joi, who featured on Grey’s Anatomy, is making a return as a new character in the spin-off show Station 19.

Khalilah Joi, well-known for appearing on ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy, will mark her return to the show’s universe for the spin-off Station 19.

Joi appeared in the notable season 15 episode 19 titled Silent All These Years as Abby, a sexual assault victim, but for season 4 in the spin-off program, she is set to play a completely different character.

The actor is a new cast in a recurring role as Condola Vargas, who is referred to as an experienced litigator who studied in the same law school as Dean Miller‘s sister Yemi.

Condola comes to assist firefighter Dean (Okieriete Onaodowan), suing the police after he got arrested while attempting to reconnect a Black mother with her two daughters. The two characters carry a romantic history as well.

Showrunner Krista Vernoff said,

Khalilah Joi was the heart and soul of ‘Silent All These Years’ and I wanted to work with her again just because she’s such an extraordinary artist.

She added,

I wanted to give her a chance to play a relatively pain-free character. It’s a joy to have her back!

Condola will make her debut appearance on Station 19 in the upcoming episode entitled Make No Mistake, He’s Mine, which airs next week.
